About the Leather We Use...
The leather we use to make our satchels is called English Bridle.
This leather has a very tight grained smooth surface, and has been treated
with oils and wax to give it just the right amount of stand-up firmness,
but enough flexibility to make it last a long time. While English Bridle
leather is more expensive, no other leather has the same look or ages so
beautifully. A long time customer once told me "After you have most leather
briefcases for a while, they just look old and beat up. Briefcases by Tanner's
Alley just gain more character." With time it acquires the look of, well,
a nicely broken-in saddle. That classic look that says, "I have experience,
I've been around." This leather is available in Chestnut, Hershey, and
Black
Our travel bags and soft satchels are made with naked leather.
This leather is tanned so the natural beauty of the surface grain is revealed.
It has no heavy finish so remains very soft and luxurious. This leather
is available in
Nut Brown and Black.
