Many people
have asked us to explain the proper care of their leather item. With
proper care and feeding, a product made by Tanner's Alley Leather
Design Studio will last for many years. Leather is one of the most
beautiful and durable materials provided by nature., but it does need
some periodic maintenance. A generous application of a leather
conditioner such as Lexol* a couple of times a year will help
restore the natural oils and keep it from drying out. You should apply
it more frequently if you are in the habit of getting caught in the
rain. Speaking of rain, it's a good idea to give your leather a
thorough application of a non-silicone water repellant to keep it from
getting water spots and stains. (There is nothing wrong with silicone,
it just has a strong residual odor.) Do
not use mink oil or any other kind of paste type product as they tend
to darken leather as well as leave it sticky. If you should happen to
get any scratches in the leather and need to add some color, use a
cream shoe polish. If you have any questions, please call us.
